Marrakech Honors Jodie Foster, Guillermo del Toro, Raouya, Hussein Fahmi

Marrakech Film Festival will pay tribute to the American actor-director Jodie FosterMexican director Guillermo del ToroMoroccan actress Rauya and Hussein Fahmy, Egyptian actor, director and producer, at the 22nd edition, which runs from November 28 to December 6.

Foster will present his new film Vie Privée, directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, and Del Toro will present Frankenstein.

In a statement, Foster said: “What an honor it is to discover your beautiful city of Marrakech and celebrate the film at the same time. I can't wait to see the historical sites, gardens and markets, and stroll with new friends, colleagues and film lovers.”

Del Toro said: “I am thrilled to be invited back to the wonderful Marrakech International Film Festival. Since my previous visit, both the festival and the city have always been very welcoming to me. I am especially honored to receive the tribute and show audiences my most personal work, Frankenstein.”

Rauya said: “What a joy and emotion to celebrate in my country, in the city of ocher, at one of the biggest film events. Above all, my connection with the festival is a story of friendship and devotion. Every meeting with Marrakesh and its audience remains a precious moment for me – I have so many memories of exciting films and exchanges.”

Fahmy said: “Having been one of those who attended the first festival, it gives me great energy and enthusiasm to come together again with colleagues and friends from all over the world. The city of Marrakech holds a special place in my heart as one of my first films, Damy wadmoy waebtsamty (My Blood, My Tears, My Smile), was shot there. Returning to this joyful city to be honored is a very precious moment.”
