Marie-Philip Poulin sort la Victoire de sa torpeur avant d’aller au Centre Vidéotron de Québec

Victoria's return to Place Bell allowed the Montreal team to return to success.

On Sunday, Marie-Philip Poulin gave her team a stunning 3-2 overtime win over the Minnesota Frost in front of a packed house of 10,172.

The captain scored three points, including the winning goal. This stopped the Bel Province team's three-game losing streak.

“It’s very easy to play with someone who reads the game like he does,” said Abby Roque, who shared two points with Poulin and Laura Stacy. When a player can see the ice well, creating chemistry is easy. And she sees the game better than anyone. She can score from almost anywhere and any way.”

La Victoire returned to its familiar home for the first time since December 7th. Head coach Corey Chevery's hockey players recently played four games overseas and one at the Bell Center.

Morozko opened the scoring in the second period. Mae Batherson, sister of Ottawa Senators forward Drake Batherson, beat goalie Anne-Renee Desbiens with a pinpoint wrist shot.

In the third period, Poulin tied the game by diving and knocking the puck back.

“Pou had to dive to get the puck into the net. That shows how good goalies are in this league,” Cheverie said.

The visitors did not have their last word, however, as Kendall Coyne Schofield again gave priority to Frost. However, Abby Roque, supported by Poulin, brought everyone back to square one with 29 seconds left in regulation.

“Captain Clutch” did what she does best in overtime: leading her team to victory by fooling the goalie.

Unfortunately, defender Erin Ambrose also missed the game against the two-time defending LPHF champions. Rookie Tamara Giaquinto took her place in the Montreal lineup, signing a 10-day contract before the match.

Forward Lina Ljungblom also played her first match of the season after being sidelined due to mononucleosis.

Montreal entered the match last in the LPHF standings for the first time in its history and, with two points yesterday, jumped to fifth place, ahead of Seattle, Vancouver and Ottawa, who all won on Saturday.

La Victoire will look to continue their momentum next Sunday in Quebec against the Vancouver Goldeneyes at the Videotron Centre.
