Defenseman Morgan Rielly played in his 879th career game, passing Thomas Kaberle for eighth place on the Leafs franchise list in games played. Only two defensemen, Tim Horton (1,184) and Borje Salming (1,099), have played more games for Toronto.

Rielly celebrated with a goal at 14:56 of the first after Shane Wright's power-play goal gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.

In the second match, Jani Nyman gave the Kraken a 2–1 lead before Tavares scored his first goal of the match.

The Kraken rebounded to take a 3-2 lead in the third period thanks to a go-ahead goal by defenseman Vince Dunn.

Dunn scored at 17:44 when Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo pushed Seattle's Jaden Schwartz into Stolarz. Craig Berube didn't challenge goalkeeper interference as Carlo's push couldn't have been more obvious.

In less than two minutes, Stolarz was controlled by Mason Marchment, at which point he became enraged and threw the net off the docks in an attempt to reach the Kraken ahead. Carlo was among the Leafs who did not immediately attack Marchment.
