Man with knife killed mom, grandparents before deadly police shooting in Piscataway: officials

A knife-wielding man killed his mother and grandparents, officials said Tuesday in Piscataway. before he was shot by police on Monday.

Officers responded to a home on River Road around 5:30 p.m. after a 911 call from a man reporting that the man had a knife.

When officers arrived on the scene, they said the suspect had a knife or machete. When they tried to use stun guns, they say it didn't stop him.

Authorities say he attacked police with a gun and that's when they shot him.

When police entered the house, they found three bodies believed to be the suspect's mother and grandparents.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office and the New Jersey Attorney General's Office are investigating their deaths.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News they had pleasant encounters with those who lived in the house in the past.

The investigation is ongoing. Officials say this appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
