Man who accosted Ariana Grande faces nuisance charge in Singapore

Sometimes a person needs to find a new hobby that doesn't involve intimidating celebrities.

An Australian man who hugged Ariana Grande after attacking her on Thursday while arriving at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good has been charged with public nuisance, the BBC reports.

In various videos capturing the incident as Grande greeted hundreds of fans lined up behind a barricade along the yellow carpet at the premiere, a man can be seen jumping over the barricade on the other side of the carpet, running towards her with his arms and legs flailing, then roughly grabbing her neck and shoulders before turning around and smiling happily at the cameras. Cynthia Erivo, who was out with her co-star as well as Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh, immediately stepped between Grande and the man and appeared to yell at him.

Security then pulled the man away from the very shaken star, who plays Glinda in Wicked. According to investigators, he was arrested, charged, and then released. BBCwho identified him as Johnson Wen, 26. If convicted, he could be fined more than $1,500.

Wen, who goes by “Pajama Man” on Instagram, considers himself a “scene stealer” who has surprised stars such as Katy Perry and The Weeknd. He was escorted away by security at an athletics event at the Paris Olympics and has repeatedly run onto football fields during high-profile matches. Wen appears to post media coverage of his bad behavior as a badge of honor on his Instagram account, where he calls himself the “most hated troll.”

By the way, one video of the event can be seen on Wen's Instagram grid, where he had the audacity to write as a caption: “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the yellow carpet with you.”

“You literally attacked her and you're posting this? Bro, you deserve to go to jail, there's something seriously wrong with you,” one commenter wrote under the video.

Another went into more detail, writing: “Congratulations. You managed to turn what should have been a magical premiere into a global demonstration of your complete inability to act like a functioning adult… Rushing on a woman – any woman, let alone one who has suffered unimaginable trauma – is not a 'joke'. It is not a 'stunt'. It is not 'funny'. It is pathetic, dangerous and shows a complete lack of respect for boundaries, safety and basic principles. human decency.”

After thanking Erivo for her quick response, the second commenter ended by saying: “You have not attracted attention. You have been exposed as reckless, inconsiderate and completely unaware of the impact your actions have on a woman who I've already experienced real horror.

“If your goal was to be remembered, congratulations again: you're being remembered for all the wrong reasons. And believe me, that doesn't impress anyone.”

A third person addressed their comment on Instagram, writing: “Why is this man allowed to constantly post videos of himself attacking/harassing people? This is upsetting, disgusting and illegal. @instagram please make him leave.”

Grande has not publicly commented on the incident.

“Wicked: For Good” is scheduled to premiere in New York on Monday. The second half of the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked” will be released in US theaters on November 21.
