OAKVILLE, ON, Oct. 29, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — With Halloween just days away and goblins and superheroes preparing to fill the streets, MADD Canada is reminding everyone to plan ahead and drive sober to help protect children and families enjoying the holiday.
Every year, hundreds of Canadians are killed and thousands injured in crashes involving alcohol, cannabis and/or other drugs. These completely preventable tragedies have a lasting impact on families and communities across the country.
“Halloween should be full of fun, laughter and safe celebrations, but driving under the influence can turn a night of joy into sorrow,” said MADD Canada National President Tanya Hansen Pratt. “The best Halloween costume is staying sober while driving and keeping an eye on the magicians to make sure everyone gets home safely.”
Everyone can do their part to keep Halloween celebrations safe and the roads safe:
- Never operate a car, boat, ATV or any other vehicle while intoxicated;
- Never get into a vehicle driven by a person with a disability;
- Always plan ahead so you know how to get home safely;
- Call 911 if you see a driver you suspect is intoxicated.
Those looking for a safe, sober and reliable ride home at the touch of a button can use Uber, MADD Canada's official ride-sharing app. Visit uber.com/ca/en/ for more information.
