Confusingly enough, high school senior Maggie Keerin attends Louisville High School in Woodland Hills and will soon attend the University of Louisville in Kentucky on a full scholarship.
Let's forget about the two Louisvilles for a moment. Did you know there is a scholarship waiting for her based on her field hockey skills? And the high school she attends doesn't have a field hockey team.
She received this offer due to her performance in club field hockey. At Louisville High, she is perfectly happy playing volleyball and soccer, although outsiders have no idea that she is one of the best field hockey players in Southern California.
Her father is Jeff Kearin, a former Loyola and Cal State Northridge football coach who is the co-ed football coach at Crespi and has taken her to competitions for years. He consulted with others about whether Maggie should go to a high school that offered field hockey, and they said his success in multiple sports would help her become an all-around field hockey player.
Maggie has been involved in sports since she was 5 years old.
“One night she came home from a sleepover and said, 'I want to play a stick game.' I thought it was lacrosse,” her father said.
Now she has the opportunity to pay for college. “No one is happier than mom and dad,” her father said.
