- macOS Tahoe 26.2 is now available for Mac and MacBook
- It comes with a new Edge Light feature to illuminate your video calls.
- Other minor improvements and bug fixes are also included.
Next to iOS 26.2, Apple also released similar software updates for its other devices, including macOS Tahoe 26.2 – with a useful new Edge Light feature that lets you illuminate your face during video calls on Apple Silicon Macs.
How McRumors The addition of Edge Light is reportedly the biggest change in this release. It will use your Mac's display “to illuminate your face like a virtual ring light when you're on a video call in low-light conditions.” On newer Macs introduced in 2024 and later, you can also automatically turn on the lights in low-light conditions.
This feature offers customizable light width and temperature settings so you can adjust the lighting to your liking, and when you use a mouse or trackpad, the light will instantly dim so you can see what you're doing on the screen.
We wrote about this feature when the macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta was released, and it looks like it could be especially handy when you're in a rush to get ready for a call and don't have as much time as you'd like to figure out the lighting.
Minor updates and AirDrop setup
Other new features in macOS Tahoe 26.2 include auto-generated podcast chapters, embedded links to featured podcasts, improved game library filters, in-game mission updates, and support for connected controllers.
There are also plenty of bug fixes and small tweaks, as is typical for such macOS updates. For example, the Apple News app has improved navigation, and the tables in the Freeform app are now more flexible in terms of what they can store. The “Favorite Songs” playlist has also been added to “Best of” on Apple Music.
Apple also says that with this update, “AirDrop codes offer an additional layer of verification when using AirDrop with unknown contacts by providing a code on the recipient's device that the sender must enter to complete the transfer.”
We'll have to wait and see if this breaks AirDrop support, which Google recently added to their Pixel 10 phones – but that wouldn't be much of a surprise. The macOS Tahoe 26.2 update is already rolling out worldwide.
