Lyft to open new office in Toronto

Lyft, a California-based ride-sharing company, plans to open its first office in Toronto in 2026.

According to press releasethe new headquarters will be located in Toronto's financial district and will be a “possible base” for “several hundred” team members. The office will also be the company's second major technology hub, joining its San Francisco headquarters.

Lyft says this investment in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) strengthens the company's commitment to the Canadian market to attract new talent to its ride-sharing services. Lyft also noted that the company has made significant progress as part of its global growth strategy, with the number of rides increasing by more than 20 percent in 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Lyft is no stranger to Canada. has been offering trips to Toronto since 2017. and have teams located in Longueuil and Montreal, Quebec. Additionally, the ride-sharing giant is responsible for Bike Share Toronto and other bike sharing systems in Quebec.

With this announcement, Lyft is also launching new partnerships with Nonnina's Table and the Daily Bread Food Bank, two local charities dedicated to addressing food insecurity and supporting those in need in the GTA. Lyft also noted partnership with The King's Trust provide Toronto youth access to job training, interviews, networking and transportation to get to work.

In addition, Lyft provides riders the opportunity to contribute to the ride total through the Round Up & Donate program, where riders can donate to Food Banks Canada, the YMCA of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross or the True Patriot Love Foundation.

In addition to the new office in Toronto, Lyft also has offices in various cities across North America and Europe.
