‘Love Island’ Takes Crown As Most Complained About Show On British TV

British TV viewers love to complain about Love Island.

This is the conclusion of the media regulator OfcomAn annual round-up of the most cringeworthy moments on British television.

ITV the reality show hosted by Maya Jama was the subject of 14,121 complaints in 2025. This means that three in 10 of the 49,580 complaints to Ofcom were about Love Island.

The July 24 episode saw an estimated 3,547 concerns about Shakira's alleged bullying, making it the most complained-about moment of 2025. The full Ofcom list is below: Love Island taking half the places in the top 10.

Ofcom data shows that young people, who make up a large proportion of Love IslandViewers can feel free to voice their concerns about what they see on screen.

Ofcom does not have demographic data on complainants as people raise their concerns with the media regulator anonymously.

The power of feeling oh Love Island shows the longevity of the reality brand and its continued relevance to the audience. In August, the season 12 finale was watched by nearly 2 million viewers, making it one of the 50 highest-rated shows on television that week.

Other highlights in Ofcom's top 10 included 1,008 complaints about Mickey Rourke's comments about JoJo Siwa on Celebrity Big Brother.

Some 938 complaints related to Sabrina Carpenter's performance and Charli XCX's see-through dress at the Brit Awards.
