An art heist film by Josh O'Connor based on the 1972 robbery of the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts. Mastermind documents the exploits of a disillusioned man who attempts a leisurely escape with four Arthur Dove paintings. Stuffed with stars Crime 101Chris Evans is jewelry thief Davis who awkwardly teams up with insurance broker Sharon (Halle Berry) to rob the 101 Freeway. As the two pursue Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo), they approach a huge, multimillion-dollar latest job. In theaters February 2026.
Honorable Mention: Low stakes robbery Steven Soderbergh's upcoming Christophers it is not the center of attention, but part of an incredible film dedicated to art. Headed to theaters in 2026.
Classic

A lesson in creating tense tension, Red circle The story follows a group of French robbers who come together almost by chance for a daring and exciting jewel heist. But as we learn from the experiences of doomed criminals, officers and inspectors, chance and choice are more or less illusions in the face of the fateful roles we play. “All men are guilty,” the cynical police chief explains one day. “They are born innocent, but it doesn't last long.” Stream to Apple TV.
Widely considered the best heist film of all time. Rififi follows a similar plot Red circle: Jewel thieves in and out of prison plan to search the seemingly impenetrable joint. Much of this film focuses on the crime itself, with a carefully planned heist that boasts 30 minutes of intense theft without dialogue or music. While Criterion isn't currently streaming, it does sell the film on DVD and Blu-ray, and your local video store (yes, they still exist) or library is sure to have a copy.
A bit of a twisted comedy How to steal a million Audrey Hepburn portrays the daughter of a notorious art forger who one day crawls out from under his skis. One of the statues he forged is subject to forensic examination; if that happens, everything he's ever sold will be under the same magnifying glass. Hepburn must team up with “lowly burglar” Simon Dermott (Peter O'Toole) to recover the statue before the ordeal begins. Rent on Prime Video, Apple TV or YouTube.

In pitch darkness Before the devil knows you're deadA man (Philip Seymour Hoffman) tasks his brother (Ethan Hawke) with robbing a jewelry store owned by their parents (Albert Finney and Rosemary Harris). Passing through one day, Argentina Nine Queens describes a pair of con artists who meet by chance for a chance win. And although the prize the two tricksters hope to get is money, they do so by first getting their hands on a different kind of art: rare and valuable stamps. Headhunters not for little siblings or the squeamish. True story

Inspired by a Vanity Fair article about teen robberies of Los Angeles celebrities, Sofia Coppola Chic ring does a minor job of indicting a culture obsessed with the internet and fame. If you can stick to a deliberately restrained and rarely judgmental cinematic style, you'll be justly rewarded. Rent on Apple TV or Prime Video.
American animals The story follows a group of young people who come up with the brilliant idea of stealing not a famous painting or jewelry, but an illustrated book of birds. Stranger than their purpose, however, is the way director Bart Layton chose to make the film: part comedy, part documentary, with the criminals themselves helping tell the story. Intertwined with reconstruction and commentary to such an extent that they lose all distinction, American animals acts as a critique of both the arrogance and the audience's insatiable desire to hear all about it. Museum begins with the acknowledgment: “This story is an exact copy of the original.” What follows is an exploration of this idea – all while plotting the largest museum heist in history in Mexico. His character has no idea why he did it; he just knows he hates seeing Indigenous masks, headdresses and ceremonial objects locked behind glass, completely devoid of form and function. Modern milestones

The film, which pits cops Denzel Washington, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Willem Dafoe against the shadowy group of Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer and Clive Owen, is destined for success from the start. But you will only get more investment because Inner man — a twisted revenge film about a meticulously planned, more than just bank robbery — starts to go off the rails. With the 1960s original and the Michael B. Jordan-directed remake in the future, it's hard to ignore the influence Thomas Crown case. But Pierce Brosnan's twisted and unfairly hilarious 1999 version is especially hard to ignore. This heist movie about a billionaire who steals art purely for the love of the game is a lesson in both suspense and classic, feel-good filmmaking. Dragged on concrete it's modern noir with a vengeance. Fresh out of prison, Henry Jones (Tory Kittles) is simply looking for a way to support his family, and corrupt cop Brett Ridgeman (Mel Gibson) is simply looking for a way out of his dangerous, low-rent neighborhood.
