Calgary, Nov. 03, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Litus, a critical minerals and battery metals company developing nanotechnology solutions for sustainable lithium mining, just announced breakthrough results from its Litus LiNC pilot plant deployed in Texas. After processing thousands of liters of brine, the system achieved sustained lithium removal of over 98% with unprecedented material stability, clearly demonstrating that the Litus LiNC process is technically ready for scale-up and commercially viable. The Litus LiNC modular solution is proven and ready for use in oil fields, global salars, geothermal brines, dissolving lithium-rich minerals, unlocking reservoirs as new sources of global energy storage and electrification.
Litus is bringing the economics of lithium mining to a highly profitable commercial level with minimal environmental impact, increasing the global supply of cleaner, portable electricity.
“These results represent a turning point,” said Dr. Ghada Nafi, CEO and co-founder of Litus. “For years, the industry has been looking for direct lithium extraction technology that is sustainable, efficient, reliable and truly scalable. With Litus LiNC, we have achieved this goal. This pilot project proves that our technology works in the field with consistency, efficiency and cost-effectiveness that will transform the lithium industry.”
At the heart of this success is Litus' proprietary nanocomposite, developed and manufactured in Calgary using green chemistry. Using the Litus LiNC nanocomposite, the company's pilot project demonstrated consistent performance in a variety of chemical solutions, highlighting the reliability and adaptability of the material, which ran continuously, seven days a week, for over 5,000 pumping hours without compromising nano performance. The results confirm both performance and cost-effectiveness at both low and high lithium concentrations. Litus LiNC demonstrates exceptional stability, repeatability and reproducibility over multiple cycles, highlighting the durability of the proprietary nanocomposite material.
Litus LiNC operates with minimal environmental impact. Unlike other methods that use expensive purified water, Litus LiNC works effectively with fresh city water, proving its adaptability to real-world operating conditions. With an energy consumption of only approximately 8 kWh per cycle, Litus LiNC combines ultra-low power and water consumption with full automation and remote control, offering industry a low-cost, low-risk and additional source of income.
Data from the site is transferred to Litus' facility and servers in Calgary, where system performance is continuously monitored and monitored remotely. Thousands of data collected in the field are critical to optimizing processes and generating insights. With advanced AI-powered analytics and modeling, this digital integration positions Litus LiNC as a next-generation intelligent extraction platform.
The results confirm that lithium mining can be efficient, profitable and environmentally responsible at the same time. With plant economics remaining profitable even at low lithium prices, the Litus LiNC process is now proven and feasible for the next phase of commercial expansion.
“With this pilot project, we have shown the world that Litus LiNC is real and ready,” said Dr. Nafi. “This is the future of lithium mining: clean, smart, scalable and ready to power the global energy transition.”
