Lions, Chiefs players brawl after hard-fought game

Hard won Kansas City Chiefs A win over the Detroit Lions took a wild turn after the final whistle blew and a fight broke out between players on Sunday night.

Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes was about to approach Lions cornerback Brian Branch for a handshake after the game. Branch disparaged Mahomes' athletic prowess, and receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster seemed to disagree.

Smith-Schuster and Branch exchanged words before the defender stuck the receiver in the helmet. Smith-Schuster dropped to one knee as running back Isaiah Pacheco tried to hold on to the Lions player. Smith-Schuster came back at Branch, trying to take him down.

Despite being held back by Pacheco, Branch still managed to rip off Smith-Schuster's helmet. Players from both teams entered the fray, trying to pull the two opponents away from each other. When the skirmish ended, another blow was struck.

When the commotion died down, the players said goodbye to each other and headed back to the locker room.

The NFL will likely punish this scandal.

Kansas City won the game 30-17, recovering from a tough Monday night loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs are now 3-3.
