On Thursday, we reported the stunning news that New York Attorney General Letitia James was… accused federal grand jury in Virginia.
A federal grand jury in Virginia indicted James on charges of bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution. The charges center on James' purchase of a house in Norfolk. Prosecutors allege she falsely claimed it was a second home to secure better loan terms before renting it out to tenants. [….]
“No one is above the law. The charges brought in this case constitute deliberate criminal acts and a serious breach of public trust,” Halligan said. “The facts and the law in this case are clear, and we will continue to follow them to ensure justice is served.”
James has denied the allegations and called the indictment “political retribution.” The liberal media, of course, is the liberal media and aligns with the ideology of the Democratic Party.

One of the worst takes was probably this one from CNN's Casey Hunt. This is a version of “Everyone does it.”
CNN: “Everyone in America is committing mortgage fraud!”
— Breaking911 (@Breaking911) October 10, 2025
On CNN's Arena program, Hunt said:
“We're still getting the details, but if this is related to the mortgage issue, I mean, this is something that everyone in America, or at least a lot of people, if you're lucky enough to buy a house in America, you can handle it, right? The federal government isn't prosecuting all these people for this.”
This is a pretty amazing option. No, not everyone does this, and many Americans responded to this clip on X to reassure Casie Hunt of this fact.
What happened to the Democrats and media chants of “No one is above the law”?

Can we remind Hunt of the words of Letitia James?
When powerful people cheat to get better loans, it comes at the expense of hardworking people.
Every day Americans can't lie to the bank to get a mortgage, and if they did, our government would throw the book at them.
There simply cannot be different rules for different people.

Why didn't they have that “Everybody's doing it” approach when it came to President Donald Trump? The hypocrisy and bias is incredible.
Apparently the media didn't mind James running away with a promise to get Trump. Where did the media highlight existing problems? This was not seen as harassment of a political opponent. They don't seem to see any problem with it, and most had no problem with the fact that the law rolled into a pretzel in progress.
The first five minutes of CNN's discussion of the Letitia James indictment focuses solely on Trump, retaliation, the DOJ, etc. Finally, someone briefly mentions the merits of the case. His opinion: “She really has a problem.” The discussion quickly turns to Trump, retaliation, the DOJ, etc.

The media may try to spin this issue and talk about political retribution.
But the media cannot change the facts of the case, and the jury will see them.
