- LG to Unveil Sound Suite Dolby Atmos FlexConnect Speakers at CES
- Options include the H7 soundbar, M7 and M7 speakers, and the W7 subwoofer.
- The H7 is the first FlexConnect soundbar that can be used with any TV.
The system performs a quick and simple calibration step, and voila—you get immersive Atmos audio without the need to reconfigure furniture, run wires, or buy special accessories. At least that's the theory.
LG H7 soundbar and M7 and M5 wireless speakers
LG is not the first company to launch FlexConnect. This robe belongs TKLwho debuted TKL Z100 The Dolby Atmos FlexConnect speakers and subwoofer arrived earlier this year. However, while the TCL Z100 speakers are only compatible with 2025 and newer Mini LED TVs, LG gives you more options.
LG FlexConnect speakers can be connected to compatible LG TVs, but the new LG H7 Soundbar with FlexConnect support will work with any TV. The H7 is a beast with 20 speakers, four built-in woofers, eight passive bass radiators, and three dedicated amplifiers.
Whether you're using an LG TV or H7 as a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect hub (or “master”), you can choose between two FlexConnect wireless speaker models: the M5, a mono speaker with front-facing tweeter/woofer and boost speaker for Atmos height channel effects, or the larger M7, a stereo with two full-range speakers, a woofer and boost speaker.
The LG FlexConnect W7 subwoofer can be used with any of these options. It produces the deepest bass of any LG subwoofer (up to 25.9 Hz, according to the company) through an 8-inch driver and can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
LG's Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system is also more versatile than TCL's system in terms of maximum number of speakers. TCL Mini LED TVs can support a total of four Z100 FlexConnect speakers, including the Z100-SW subwoofer. LG, on the other hand, can use four speakers plus a subwoofer for a total of five wireless devices. Depending on the model and number of speakers, the LG FlexConnect system can reproduce up to 13.1.7 channels.
As I mentioned above, automatic room calibration is standard with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect systems, but LG takes it a step further with Sound Follow. Using the LG ThinQ app, you can tailor your room setup to your specific seating area.
2026 LG premium TVs will come with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect support, but 2025 LG owners OLED C and G series TVs will also receive this technology through a scheduled firmware update.
LG Sound Suite: a more flexible FlexConnect option?
I had the opportunity to hear TCL's Z100-based Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system back in August. I loved the level of movie immersion it provided through just three satellite speakers and a subwoofer, but I was especially impressed by its ability to play Dolby Atmos music.
So, should we have high hopes for LG Sound Suite? Considering that LG has much more experience than TCL in creating Dolby Atmos home theater sound systems (flagship LG Atmos soundbar systems such as LG S95TRusually among the most recommended), I suspect LG's FlexConnect implementation will perform just as well, and perhaps better, than TCL's equivalent setup.
LG's advantage will be its FlexConnect soundbar-based systems. The LG H7 soundbar may be a new favorite, especially if it comes with four M7 speakers and a W7 subwoofer. Of course, none of this will come cheap.
The TCL Z100 speakers retail for $400 each, and based on their specs, the M5 may be priced lower, but the M7 may be priced higher. I wouldn't be surprised if the final 13.1.7 package (one H7, four M7, one W7) costs around $3,000 (about £2,250 / AU$4,500).
