LG will debut its first Micro RGB television at CES

LG is embracing one of the newest TV trends with the introduction of Micro RGB. The company will unveil the LG Micro RGB evo at CES 2026, but today shared some preliminary information about the screen.

Micro RGB is a new screen technology that instead of white light, the backlight can be any shade thanks to individually controllable red, green and blue Micro LEDs, providing a wider color gamut. This approach is a midway point between the precision of OLED with individual pixel backlighting, but it offers an upgrade over screens that use only mini-LEDs.

The TV also comes with an upgraded AI upscaling engine. According to the company's press release, the LG Micro RGB evo is certified by Intertek for 100 percent color gamut coverage in BT.2020, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB standards. The TV has over a thousand dimming zones to adjust brightness.

Several other brands that currently use micro RGB charge a pretty penny for it; the one that was announced by Samsung earlier this year . Samsung's 115-inch version is also much larger than LG's offerings, which include 100-inch, 86-inch and 75-inch variants. Even though the size is reduced, expect the final price of the LG Micro RGB evo to be very high as well.
