What this letter writer may be missing is that the demand should not be an increase in the need for oil and gas, but should replace oil and gas already provided by another country. For example, how much more oil and gas will Alberta and British Columbia be able to produce, displacing unstable supplies of oil and gas from Russia or the Middle East to the EU and other countries.

License to Prosper

(Re: Bell – Alberta's New 'Strong and Free' License Plate – Here,' Calgary SunTuesday) From my point of view it looks great. Today, Albertans have a brand new license plate with a very catchy slogan. Tomorrow we will have a brand country, the Republic of Alberta, ready to burst onto the world stage. May I ask if life could get better?

Complete rezoning is in the news again. The city administration recommended the rezoning as a path to more affordable and affordable housing. This did not happen. A lone, narrow, two-story house is on the market for $1.2 million in Ward 4. The small bungalow is dwarfed by an eight-unit building with no parking, which fortunately gives the city more in taxes on the site than the small bungalow ever could. The rezoning was never about affordable housing, just about increasing taxes for the city coffers.
