Lego's latest Iron Man demo looks set to usher in a new era of Marvel building sets aimed at adults. The Iron Man Mark 3 figure will be the only Lego Marvel model officially titled “Collector's Edition”. Lego has done the same thing with some of the larger Harry Potter sets, and Star Wars has an Ultimate Collector series, so it makes sense that some Marvel sets would have a similar designation.
The Mark 3 figure is perhaps the best-looking Iron Man build from Lego; at least this is the most realistic depiction of Tony Stark's iconic MCU costume yet. The Mark 3 holds an important place in MCU history as it was the primary armor worn by Robert Downey Jr. in 2008's Iron Man, the first film in the Avengers: Infinity Saga arc. This difference makes it a fitting debut for the LEGO Marvel Collector's Edition series.
The highly detailed figure features 1,297 pieces and stands over 15 inches tall when attached to the buildable stand. Model measures up to 8 inches wide and 4 inches deep, depending on pose. He has multiple points of articulation including the neck, shoulders, waist, wrists and arms. Lego says the final step in the build is connecting the arc reactor. It could just be pictures, but the gold plated pieces look a little better compared to Lego Iron Man MK4 Bust which launched earlier this year.
Model comes with a nameplate that can be attached to the stand and a Lego Iron Man minifigure in Mark 3 armor. The minifigure's helmet is removable and has a retractable visor. The Tony Stark minifigure also has a new design.
The Iron Man Mark 3 Collector's Edition will feature the Build Together feature in the Lego Builder app, allowing up to four Marvel fans to easily build a new Iron Man figure as a group.
