Legendary football coach Nick Saban joins Predators ownership group

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Alabama football coach Nick Saban has acquired a minority stake in the NHL. Nashville Predators.

Predators chairman and majority owner Bill Haslam announced Tuesday the purchase of Dream Sports Ventures LLC, a company controlled by Saban and business partner Joe Agresti.

“Although I have retired from coaching, I still have a competitive nature and a great passion for the sport,” Saban said in a statement released by the Predators. “Being part of a Nashville sports team has always been a goal, and the opportunity to partner with the Predators with a great actor like Bill Haslam created the perfect scenario for us. The Preds are a great organization with a fantastic brand, and we are excited to be a part of the franchise's future success.”

Saban and Agresti are partners in Dream Motor Group, which has 10 dealerships, including two in Nashville. They are also partners in a number of other business ventures.

Saban resigned as Alabama coach after the 2023 season. In 28 years as a coach, he compiled a 297-71-1 record and won seven national titles — one at LSU and six at Alabama.

Haslam served as governor of Tennessee from 2011–2019. He became chairman of the Predators on July 1, 2024, and took over as majority owner of the franchise on July 3 of this year.
