Apple has released a new preview version long-awaited second season from Monarch: Legacy of Monstersthe hit Apple TV series set in Legendary's Monsterverse—and this time the focus shifts from Godzilla to King Kong.
In the first season, the two siblings unravel their family's connection to a shadowy organization known as Monarch, an investigation that led them into the world of monsters and connected them with army officer Lee Shaw (portrayed by father Kurt Russell and son Wyatt Russell in different eras). The story, set between the 1950s and the present day, explores Monarch's origins and his shaky relationship with the Titans, including the original kaiju, Godzilla.
Season 2 will delve deeper into the hidden secrets that once again unite heroes and villains. According to Apple, the new season will explore Kong Skull Island and meet a mysterious coastal village where a mythical Titan emerges from the sea.
The universe of monsters that began with Godzilla (2014) and continued until Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs Kong (2021), and more recently Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), is the host of the series. Starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm, the series' 10-episode second season. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters The world premiere will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026. New episodes will be released weekly until May 1, 2026.

Black returns as showrunner for the second season, with Colville also serving as executive producer and writer on two episodes. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita serve as executive producers on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., Godzilla's original home, which licensed the character rights to Legendary.
