Laurent Brossoit envoyé à San Jose

Goalkeeper Laurent Brossoit will continue his career in California.

The Chicago Blackhawks traded him to the San Jose Sharks for defensemen Ryan Ellis and Jake Furlong and was a fourth-round pick in the 2028 draft. Defensive end Nolan Allan and a 2028 seventh-rounder will also head to San Jose.

The 32-year-old goaltender has played just six games this season, all with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. There, he maintained a 3-3-0 record, a 3.38 goals-against average, and a .901 EPS. His last campaign in the National Hockey League dates back to 2023-2024, when he wore the colors of the Winnipeg Jets.

In 140 career games, Brossoit has a 64-46-13 record, a 2.64 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage with the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights.

As part of the deal, the Blackhawks agree to take over the contract of Ryan Ellis, who has not played an NHL game since the 2021-22 season due to a long-term injury. So his $6.25 million annual salary won't have any impact on Illinois' payroll.

As for Brossoit, he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. His current contract, signed with the Blackhawks in July 2024, pays him $3.3 million annually.
