Although he didn't score a single point, the Muscovite was a key player in the 4-3 shootout win over the New York Islanders. Midway through the second period, he got into a disagreement with defenseman Matthew Schaefer, which resulted in him being hit in the face with his gloves after a stoppage of play; he received two minor punishments, as well as many harsh comments from Internet users.
However, the derogatory remarks did not go unheeded. Frustrated to see this on his social media, Zadorov responded to Islanders supporters.
“Get out of my mailbox and head to the arena to cheer on your team. This place was the library tonight,” he wrote, referring to UBS Arena, home of the Islanders, and at the same time the tranquility of the place.
The matchup against the Bruins was scheduled for a crowd of less than 16,000.
