Kris Boyd shooting: Person of interest in custody

Person of interest in execution New York Jets Cornerback Kris Boyd was arrested Monday, police said.

A person of interest, who has not been identified, was arrested at an apartment complex in Buffalo, New York. New York Post reported. The NYPD has not said what role, if any, the man allegedly played in the shooting.

Charges have not yet been filed. NYPD released images of the suspect they believed it was related to a shooting that occurred several hours after Boyd was taken to the hospital.

Boyd was shot and killed in the early morning hours of November 16 outside a restaurant in midtown Manhattan. The shooter fled the scene. It is unclear what circumstances led to the shooting.

The NFL player was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He spent several days in hospital before apparently being released and returning to deal with more complex health issues caused by the wound.

Boyd joined the Jets in the offseason after spending time with the team. Houston Texans. He has been on injured reserve since August after suffering an injury in training camp. He played his first four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Last week, he surprised his Jets teammates by attending a special team meeting. He interrupted the meeting and then spoke with the players and coaches.
