Inzoi And subnautica Krafton has initiated a so-called voluntary retirement program.
Reportedly Business Koreaand noticed MachineThe announcement was reportedly made internally on November 12. The program is offered to all employees, including junior staff with five years or less of service.
According to the report, Krafton plans to provide the following benefits based on length of service: a six-month salary for those with a year of experience or less, a 12-month salary for two years or less, an 18-month salary for five years or less, a 24-month salary for eight years or less, a 30-month salary for those with 11 years or less of experience, and a 36-month salary for more than 11 years.
As for the reasoning behind the program, a company spokesperson told Business Korea that “the main goal is to support participants in actively defining the direction of their growth and tackling new challenges both within and outside the company in the era of AI transformation.”
This applies to plans laid out in earnings reports and presentations for the third quarter ended September 30, in which Krafton reiterated plans to become an AI First company. “By expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities, the company aims to provide differentiated user experiences and drive innovation across all services,” the earnings report said.
“The company plans to support members in making their own decisions whether to continue making changes within the company or expanding outside the company,” Business Korea said in a statement.
Krafton suspends hiring after 'record high' quarterly earnings
When Bae Dong-geun, Krafton's chief financial officer, was asked during an earnings call on November 4 whether AI First's move was due to lower labor costs, he responded that “with the exception of original intellectual property (IP) development organizations and AI-related personnel, we have suspended hiring throughout the company.”
The CFO then added that “rather than cutting costs with AI First, individual productivity needs to improve company-wide, so we are on a hiring freeze for now and will organize and reveal later whether there will be changes to the five-year IP franchising strategy announced earlier this year.” The latter refers to the fact that the company has 11 new projects in development (as of November 2025).
News of the hiring freeze and voluntary retirement program comes days after Krafton reported a “record high” quarterly operating profit of 1.052 trillion Korean won (about $717 million).
“For the first time since the company’s founding, cumulative operating income for the third quarter exceeded 1 trillion won,” Crafton said in its financial report.
