Kowloon Labyrinth Is Launching on Steam on 20th January 2026

Find your way out of the Kowloon maze

Indie developer QuadrupleGames has announced that Kowloon Labyrinth will release on Steam on January 20, 2026. The game will be available for $3.99 on PCs running Windows 10 and 11. Designed as a horror roguelike, the game takes inspiration from the legendary walled city of Kowloon, placing players in its densely packed, maze-like alleys.

Kowloon Labyrinth takes place in a randomly generated dungeon that changes with each playthrough. Players must carefully navigate eerie, otherworldly corridors while avoiding wandering enemies and searching for an escape route. Survival depends on smart movements, quick decision making, and efficient use of items that provide unique and sometimes unpredictable effects. Multiple difficulty levels add variety and challenge to each playthrough.

The game draws its enemies from Chinese mythology and folklore, creating a constant feeling of unease. Players encounter Jiangshi, the legendary jumping vampires, Heibai Wuchang, which look like twin reapers of death, and disturbing Buddhist statues that only move when no one is watching. Understanding each enemy's behavior is critical as players rarely have the opportunity to counter them.

Progression focuses on exploring ever-changing stages to collect Bagua Mirrors, which players must use to activate escape portals. Atmospheric elements heighten the tension, including distorted portals, radios that turn on without warning, and the thunderous roar of low-flying aircraft that leave ringing echoes behind.

The game, created on the Unreal Engine, has a vibrant visual style. Neon signs and red lanterns illuminate the narrow alleys with a surreal glow, and the light reflects in the humid air, creating a striking contrast between shadow and color. The result is a haunting and haunting vision of Kowloon that feels both beautiful and unsettling.
