Enjoy Knights Province with friends
Knights Providence reaches a major development milestone with the release of Alpha 13, just in time for the Christmas season. This update follows almost two years of work since Alpha 12 and introduces a wide range of technical, visual and gameplay improvements. The most significant addition is the long-awaited introduction of multiplayer, marking a major step towards a full-fledged real-time strategy game.
Alpha 13 opens the door to online play, allowing players to join shared servers for co-op matches, competitive PvP, or spectating ongoing games. Players can easily share cards and save files, making multiplayer sessions flexible and accessible. In addition to multiplayer, the update expands mission scripting and storytelling tools, improves performance, and improves both audio and visual presentation.
Mission creators get new animated map objects and additional assets to create more dynamic and expressive scenarios. Heroic unit support adds a unique personality with custom names, stats, morale systems, and behavior, greatly expanding storytelling and design possibilities. Skeletons also join the game as a new neutral enemy type, immune to hunger and morale, adding new tactical challenges and a darker tone to mission selection.
The update includes a new eight-mission campaign called Burning Hay, developed by Amaroth. This story-driven campaign follows an inexperienced knight caught up in a sudden civil war and introduces new maps for single and multiplayer play. Visually, the developers have completely overhauled the forests: improved foliage, added new terrain surfaces, and introduced adjustable sun settings that give precise control over the atmosphere and lighting.
Additional updates include rendering optimizations, an improved audio engine, improved text rendering with mixed styles, expanded localization support including Greek, and numerous quality of life improvements. The full list of changes is available in the game. Knights Region remains free to play throughout Alpha 14, and Alpha 14 plans to expand systems such as animal breeding, siege mechanics, AI behavior, and player trading.
