Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is in hospital on life support after falling in the studio.
UPDATE (October 16, 6:30 pm ET): USA today reports that Fraley has died.
His family said in a statement to the publication: “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his final moments, we were fortunate to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his best memories, his laughter and celebrate his strengths and the kindness he gave to others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and is beyond comprehension.” With all of his incredible accomplishments in life, Ace's memory will live on forever!”
According to TMZhe suffered a brain hemorrhage after a fall a couple of weeks ago. According to the publication, his health has not improved and “the prognosis is disappointing”; he is on a ventilator and his family is reportedly considering turning off life support.
After Frehley's fall, he canceled concerts. On September 25, an announcement was posted on his Instagram page: “Ace suffered a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital. He is fine, but against his wishes, his doctor insists that he refrain from traveling at this time.” At the time, a statement said he planned to continue touring and working on his upcoming album. Origin Vol. 4. On October 6, he canceled all concerts.
Frehley co-founded KISS in 1973. He left the group in 1982, then rejoined them in 1996. He left the group for good in 2002, apart from joining them for a performance in 2018. He reunited at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with KISS in 2014.
