What music suits the mayor best? If you newly elected New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, answer – Slut Pop. A few days before the elections, Mamdani went to clubs. A video has circulated online in which Mamdani makes a request to Kim Petras Elsewhereonly to flash his now-iconic “you're welcome” smile when the DJ says they don't have one. Even “demons” for spooky season?
Petras retweeted the video, captioning it simply “Zohran MAMDANI” and a purple heart emoji. She's just one of dozens of celebrities who supported Mamdani in front of Gracie Mansion. Lupita Nyong'o shared the story of how Mamdani was a uber-competent social media publicist, Romy Mars blogged her mom Sofia Coppola voting for Mamdani (we love the nepo baby union), and who could forget Dr Sturgeon from Young Sheldon Wallace Shawn? In addition to Petras, Mamdani was supported by Joseline Hernandez, Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal, and, of course, “One Pound of Fish (Auto-Tune Version) (Hour Version).” Firework after firework after firework.
