Kardashian was talks about his path to becoming a lawyer since April 2019, following in the footsteps of his late father Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003.

In an interview for Vogue May 2019 issue.Kardashian said she decided to begin a four-year law degree in the summer of 2018 and intended to take the bar exam in 2022.

During the interview, she said she was encouraged that the White House called on her to help recommend changes to the pardon system. She said she felt like she needed to “learn more” while in the room.

“I would have said what I had to say about the human side and why it was so unfair. But I had lawyers with me who could back it up with all the facts of the case,” she explained. “It’s not just one person doing something, it’s always a collective of people, and I always knew my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their debt to society.”

She added: “I just felt like the system could be so different and I wanted to fight to fix it and if I knew more I could do more.”

California is one of four states that do not require a law degree to take the bar exam. Instead, the state provides potential lawyers with the opportunity to undergo an internship with practicing lawyers before taking the exam.

Kardashian addressed the negative reaction to this decision on social networks in April 2019, writing at the time: “I want people to understand that there is nothing that can limit you from pursuing your dreams and achieving new goals. You can create your own paths, just like me.”
