The Browns have been starting rookie Dillon Gabriel at quarterback for the past five games, and the team's offense is still stuck in the proverbial mud.
Gabriel mostly avoided turnovers but threw for 200 yards just once in his five starts.
While the club has rookie Sheader Sanders currently serving as the backup, Deshaun Watson is also in the mix.
Watson is still under contract for next season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said nothing at his press conference Monday about the team's plans for Watson, prompting a report from Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot noting that Watson still needs to undergo a medical examination be admitted to practice.
But Cabot also noted that Watson did “great progressat his rehabilitation center.
To that end, Stefanski was asked at Wednesday's press conference if the organization's goal is to have Watson back on the field this season.
“I have no update thereStefanski said.
So, at least publicly, the Browns haven't revealed their plans for Watson, who remains on injured reserve/physically unable to perform. If Watson is cleared soon, we'll see how Cleveland responds and whether it changes the team's current QB order.
