The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics committee has named former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Donald Trump's former chief of staff Reince Priebus to its board of directors. LA 28 reports.
These additions came after Trump increased his participation at the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In August, Trump signed an executive order that created a White House Olympic task force to address security and other issues.
One of the task force's top priorities will be to coordinate the work of federal, state and local government agencies in the field of transportation. It will also “streamline visa and certification processes for foreign athletes, coaches, officials and media.”

Trump has also influenced the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee's policies regarding gender rights in women's sports. In July, the USOPC amended its athlete safety policy to require compliance with Trump's “Keep Men Out of Women's Sports” executive order.
“(The) USOPC will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities…to ensure women have a fair and safe competitive environment consistent with Executive Order 14201,” the policy states.
The President stated this when announcing task force “very rigorous testing” will be carried out in August in response to mandatory genetic testing for women's sports.
NEW OLYMPICS CHIEF CALLS FOR 'DEFENDING' WOMEN'S CATEGORY Amid GLOBAL WAVE OF TRANS-ATHLETES
On USOPC Media Summit In October, Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Finnoff said the SRY gene tests used by World Athletics and World Boxing were “not common” in the U.S., but suggested the USOPC was exploring options for using gender testing options for its own teams.
“Taking this particular test is not very common in the United States, so our goal was to help identify labs and options to allow athletes to get this testing. And based on this experience and knowing that some other international federations are likely to follow suit, we are trying to figure out how we can make this process continuous… that's where we are now,” Finnof said. “But we have a good process.”

USOPC Board Chairman Gene Sykes called Trump's executive order banning male participation in women's sports “consistent with an international trend.”
“And fortunately, the executive order to protect women's sports in the United States is very much in line with the international trend,” Sykes said. “This is where world sports, international sports are expected to go.”
