Mississippi cornerback Camario Taylor appears to have avoided serious injury after suffering a gruesome leg injury in the final minutes of Friday night's Mayo Bowl.
Taylor, a freshman and Mississippi native, fought for extra yards in the final minutes of the game with Wake Forest leading by 14 points when he took an awkward hit to the legs during a tackle.

He managed to escape several tackles before being brought down.

Several videos posted on social media showed Taylor's left side. knee bent at an unnatural angle as he went down.
Taylor was left lying on the ground in obvious pain as medical personnel rushed to his aid. He was eventually taken from the field to the locker room.
Initial fears of a serious injury were allayed when Mississippi State coach Jeff Lebby expressed optimism after The Bulldogs lost 43-29. Lebby declined to provide details of the injury suffered by the promising young defenseman.

“Initial reports have been good, so we will continue to evaluate and get more information,” he said. “It feels good to walk into the locker room and be able to talk and talk to our medical staff and see Camario again.”
Taylor's mother, LaQuandra Conner, said in a Facebook post after the game that he suffered an ankle injury.
“Thank you everyone for the prayers, it was his ankle but NOTHING is torn or broken. GOD had MY BABY's back and for that I say THANK YOU LORD,” her caption read.

Making his second career start for the Bulldogs, Taylor completed 13 of 22 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown while adding 63 yards and another score on the ground.
