Kamala Harris Says ‘I’m Not Done’ With Politics

Kamala Harris gave her first exclusive interview in the UK on the channel BBC“Sunday from Laura Kuenssberg” During her conversation with the titular host, she discussed the present and future state of American politics and her role in them. The former vice president and presidential candidate says, “I'm not done yet. I’ve lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones.”

Harris, who served as a California senator and district attorney before becoming Joe Biden's 49th vice president from 2021 to 2025, has worked in politics for decades. As the Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential election, she went head-to-head with the Republican candidate. Donald Trumpwarning voters of his potential danger throughout his campaign.

Although Harris lost the election to Trump, she stands by her rhetoric. “I was asked if he was a fascist and I said yes, because I look at what's happening right now,” Harris says. “That's what I predicted. He said he would weaponize the Department of Justice, and that's exactly what he did.”

She calls the US president a “tyrant”, referring to “how he has weaponized, for example, federal agencies that persecute political satirists.” She also noted how FCC pursues Disney after Jimmy Kimmel's remarks after the murder of Charlie Kirk. “He's got such a thin skin that he couldn't handle criticism of jokes and tried to shut down an entire media organization,” she says.

Harris was the first female vice president of the United States and, if elected, would become the first female president. She says her granddaughters will “definitely” see a female president in their lifetime. When asked if it would be her, she replied, “Perhaps,” suggesting another potential candidate for the top job, although she has not officially confirmed the decision.

Some polls currently place Harris as an outsider to win a spot on the Democratic ticket in 2028. But Harris brushes them off, saying, “I never listened to the polls. If I had listened to the polls, I wouldn't have run for my first or second office, and I certainly wouldn't be sitting here.”

The full interview will air on Sunday at 9am on the BBC.
