Kamala Harris says she 'regrets' not showing up Joe Roganpodcast during it presidential election campaign. During the interview on CEO's DiaryHarris explained that despite several reports to the contrary, she wanted to host a conservative podcast.
“I wanted to do the Joe Rogan show, and there were a lot of games played, but I wanted to do the Joe Rogan show,” Harris told host Stephen Bartlett. “I think podcasting is a very powerful way for people to get information, and I think for a lot of people it's a primary source of information, and it's important for us to support that.”
There was conflicting information about why Harris did not give an interview to Rogan in his popular magazine. The Joe Rogan Experience. In the book Combat: Inside the Most Fierce Battle for the White HouseAuthors Jonathan Allen and Amy Parnes wrote that Rogan promised Harris to appear but gave it Donald Trump instead of. Rogan responded that Harris and her team never agreed to the gig and wanted him to go to Washington so she wouldn't have to go to Austin, where he was recording.
On CEO's DiaryHarris confirmed that she wants to be on the show. However, there were people in her camp who advised against doing this because it wouldn't be “productive” for her.
“They assumed, and it turned out to be correct, that he supported Trump and that this would not be a productive article for me,” she said. “But just like when I went on Fox News with Bret Baier, my point was that they may have their bias, but there are people who listen and are open-minded, and I'm going to go out there and give them a chance to get to know me and give me a chance to put my point of view in front of them. So, that was my view of Joe Rogan, just like it was my view of Fox.”
She added: “There were a lot of games played as scheduled and that didn't happen. I have nothing against people who love Joe Rogan and I would love to be able to talk to him directly like I wanted to during the campaign.”
Bartlett asked Harris if, looking back, she thought she should have pushed for the opportunity to do a podcast. She said she didn't know whether it would affect the overall election result. “The question was really what is the trade-off in terms of votes and where do I spend my time,” Harris said. “Am I wasting my time driving for five hours and back, rather than being in a state of flux for that period of time? And that was the trade-off.”
Harris ultimately admitted about the podcast, “I regret that we didn't do it. I definitely regret that we didn't do it.”
Harris is currently promoting her memoir. 107 dayswhich covers her campaign and election. Last month during the performance on ViewShe acknowledged that mistakes were made in the campaign. “I didn’t fully realize how much people wanted to know that there was a difference between me and President Biden,” she said.
