Dutari sent Lacob an email criticizing the Warriors' play, saying the team needed a “real second option,” adding that “veteran All-Star Jimmy Butler's tools are underutilized.”

“I am so upset,” Dutari concluded in an email via ESPN.

It is not uncommon for fans to express their dissatisfaction with the team to the owner, but this usually does not require a response. This time it happened, and Dutari posted the interaction on Reddit. The Warriors later confirmed that it was Lacob who responded.

“You can't be as upset as I am. I'm working on it. It’s complicated,” Lacob responded in an email. “Style of play. Coaches [sic] wishes regarding the players. League trends. Jimmy's not the problem.”

Based on Lacob's response, Kerr will likely be asked about this given the “coaches' desires for players” part.

But Kerr clearly hides this problem and continues to focus on the team.

The Warriors enter Tuesday with a 13-14 record, which puts them in eighth place in the Western Conference. Kerr is also in the final year of his contract and announced before the start of the season that he was not seeking a contract extension. He wanted to see how the season went before talking about his future with the team.

Kerr's work with the Warriors resulted in four NBA titles since the 2014–15 season, although the team has not advanced past the Western Conference semifinals since winning it in 2022.

Kerr firmly led his team's attacking play. Steph Curry and Draymond Green, given their chemistry together. However, some argue that changes need to be made given the younger players on the roster.

“We are all disappointed,” Kerr added. “Joe is upset. I'm upset. Steph and [Green]everyone is upset. That's pretty much how the league works. I hate it when people post personal emails. Imagine if all the emails were just published publicly, how hard life would be.”

Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy continue to support Kerr despite this season's results, while Curry has expressed his desire for Kerr to remain with the team beyond this season.
