Jerry Jones is widely known for his business acumen and controversial decades-long tenure. Dallas Cowboys' owner and general director.
But the 83-year-old actor recently showed off his acting chops when he made a guest appearance in the critically acclaimed TV series Landman. Jones' cameo drew rave reviews from the series star, actor and musician. Billy Bob Thorton.
Jones' episode became available for streaming in January. Jones portrayed himself, having an emotional dialogue about family.

“I'm not saying I did anything right, but I decided a long time ago that I was going to work with my kids,” Jones said on the show, as transcribed USA today.

“And they are involved in everything. They are involved in my leasing, oil and gas, real estate. So when I got the Cowboys, I did it so we could all work together. I thought I was doing it for them, but I got the most out of it.”

Thornton appeared on “Manningcast” Monday and applauded Jones' acting skills.

“I wasn’t surprised because he was telling his own story,” said The Oscar winner said. “I mean, if the script had been written in such a way that he had to say every line, things might have been different. But in reality he was telling the story of his life. If you just ask someone, sit down and tell them, they will burst into tears. I mean, he was very, very good. If you can force a non-actor to be himself, he will be better than an actor.”

On the football field, Jones' Cowboys lost 44-24 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Arizona Cardinals will host the Cowboys in Week 9.
