Jeremiah Love was almost a Michigan Wolverine.

The Wolverines, a four-star recruit out of high school, made him an offer, but in the end he decided: Our Lady.

It's a decision he hardly regrets, considering he's turned himself into a first-round draft prospect.

But just in case that wasn't enough, Michigan found itself at the center of a major controversy this week.

Head coach Sherron Moore was fired after it was discovered he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a team employee. Hours later, he was jailed and ultimately charged with home invasion and stalking.

The Heisman Trophy finalist reflected on his decision to pass on Michigan in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

“I mean, I loved Michigan. Michigan was a great schoolgreat program. There were a lot of wonderful people there. This place just isn’t for me,” Love said. “I don’t want to say I’m glad I didn’t go there, but I think I made the right decision in choosing Notre Dame, like any other school, because Notre Dame was just the right place for me.”

In many ways, it feels like Love made the right choice.

Prosecutors accused Moore of contacting the employee through phone calls and text messages after they broke up Monday, prompting the woman to contact the University of Michigan and cooperate in the investigation. Moore was subsequently fired as head football coach, which prosecutors say prompted him to show up at the employee's home.

Moore allegedly “broke into” the victim's home shortly after Michigan fired him for cause due to an “inappropriate relationship” with an employee. Moore allegedly grabbed butter knives and kitchen scissors and began threatening his life. Prosecutors said Moore allegedly told the employee, “My blood is on your hands” and “You ruined my life.”

Moore married his wife in 2015 and they have three daughters.
