During the reunion special of the iconic NBC series on HBO Max, Aniston and Schwimmer. admitted that they were in love with each other during the first season.
As Schwimmer explained, “Yeah, in the first season we… I fell hard for Jen.” Aniston countered: “It was reciprocated.”

“At some point, we both fell deeply in love with each other,” Schwimmer explained, “but it was like passing two ships because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that line. We respected that. But we both…”
Matt LeBlanc then interrupted him by saying, “Bulls… I'm kidding,” before suggesting that the co-stars may have actually shown a little PDA on set.
“Honestly, I remember once telling David, 'It would be such a bummer if you and I kissed for the first time on national television,'” Aniston admitted. “And indeed, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.”
But the co-stars took advantage of their time together on set, with Schwimmer saying, “I remember the very first year or two, you know, when we would have breaks in rehearsals, like there would be moments where we would cuddle on the couch.” Aniston added: “Or we'd go to bed and fall asleep on the couch.”
Finally, Schwimmer admitted, “I'm wondering how did everyone not know that we were in love with each other?”
