Jeff Garcia, the stand-up comedian best known for voicing the character Sheen in the animated sci-fi comedy film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and the Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, has died.
Garcia passed away on December 10 at the age of 50, his son Jojo Garcia announced the same day. on Instagram.
“My father was a unique soul. He was his unapologetic self and I will always admire his love, compassion and determination. He taught me so much and gave me advice that I live by every single day. He was a father, a son, an uncle, a cousin, a brother, but most of all, he was my best friend,” the younger Garcia wrote.
JoJo Garcia said he called his father every day to discuss his personal life and career as a stand-up comedian. “He believed in me like no one else,” he wrote.
He also praised his father's talent as a comedian and voice actor, noting his “smartness, irreverent humor and charm.”
“He had such an impact on the lives of people all over the world, whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron or laughed with him at one of his shows. He was my hero… I idolized him. He may be gone, but he will NEVER be forgotten,” he wrote.
JoJo Garcia concluded his post by saying his father is “in a better place now” and “no longer in pain.”
“I'll make you proud. Fly high, Rocket Man. LLJG,” he wrote.
At this time, the cause of death has not been announced.
Debi Derryberry, who voiced the character Jimmy Neutron in the Jimmy Neutron franchise, paid tribute to her late co-star. on her official Instagram page.
“I am devastated to learn that my dear friend Jeff Garcia, who also played Sheen in Jimmy Neutron, has passed away,” Derryberry wrote. “We were all together just a few months ago at a convention. He was always the funniest person in the room. We'll miss you, Shin.”
Jeff Garcia has often shared announcements about his busy stand-up comedy schedule on Instagram.
Less than two months before his death, he announced that he and Jojo Garcia will perform in the same stand-up comedy program October 26 in Covina, California.
The late actor and comedian also appeared on the November 4 episode CBS late-night comedy series Comics Unleashed.
