Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce says he didn't mean to insult Canada when he questioned why he should have cared about the World Series on a podcast episode earlier this week.
Kelce posted a clarification on social media on Friday after a clip from his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his younger brother Travis, showed him questioning why he was so excited about the “Canadian baseball team” going to the World Series against “the team that spends more money than everyone else.”
His comments drew criticism from several Canadian baseball fans, who called his opinion disappointing.
This past weekend, the Toronto Blue Jays headed into Game 7 of a tumultuous World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have the highest payroll of any MLB team.
Kansas City's Travis Kelce praised both teams for turning the World Series into seven games of “absolutely epic” baseball.
On Friday, Kelsey Sr. said on social media that he was “deceived” that the podcast's social media team “failed to show the full story.”
“How could I not love poutine, maple syrup and beavers!!” Kelce wrote, adding that he was simply “talking about how he personally doesn't care about the team that spends the most money and builds a super team winning the World Series.”
