Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas launched her Senate campaign Monday with a tongue-in-cheek ad that used President Donald Trump's past insults against her, prompting a flurry of reactions on social media.
Her campaign was announced in a video posted on Channel X on Monday afternoon. The ad showed Crockett standing while Trump's verbal jabs were heard in the background.
“What about this new one they have? Their new star, Crockett. What about her? This is the Democratic Party's new star, Jasmine Crockett. They have big problems,” Trump can be heard saying in the video.
“Someone said the other day that she is one of the leaders of the party. “I said you’ve got to be kidding me,” Trump’s audio continued.

“Oh god, oh god. She has a very low IQ…they will now rely on Crockett. Crockett will bring them back.”
The commercial was well received by liberal X commentators, who called it a strong debut.
“Jasmine Crockett's ad is great,” wrote Ed Krassenstein.
Jasmine Crockett is running for the U.S. Senate, and Republicans should be terrified,” said Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko. “She's smart, fearless, ruthless and doesn't back down from anyone. This is the matchup Texas deserves. Let's go.”
On the other side of the political spectrum, conservatives and critics responded to the ad with ridicule.
“I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with every word of it Advertisement Jasmine Crockett“- wrote commentator Matt Walsh.

“It was reported several months ago that Jasmine Crockett's phone lock screen was a photo of her,” said Republican operative Matt Volking. “Her commercial today continues that theme.”
Speaking at a campaign event in Texas on Monday, Crockett said the “gloves were off” and that she had “jumped into the ring.”
“I ask for your support to become the next U.S. Senator from the great state of Texas,” she said.
“They tell us Texas is red. They lie, but we don't. The reality is that most Texans don’t show up to vote.”
Crockett also said she decided to run after learning that “my performance for the U.S. Senate was the highest.”
“I could play it safe and continue to serve in the United States House of Representatives as long as my constituents want me to, but I have not chosen to do that because Texas, at the moment we are in right now, is life or death and all or nothing,” she said. “It's now or never. We are at a crossroads.”
Her campaign launch event was a lively affair, including an impromptu performance by music artist Cameron McCloud.
McCloud performed a rap song with the lyrics: “They're only trying to scare her by running away 'cause they think she'll win / Look, I thought I told you we're never afraid / Now look whose name's on the list / Every racist bigot has two words, Jasmine Crockett.”
