You may or may not know that legendary directors James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow were married from 1989 to 1991.
One of the reasons why you Maybe know about their previous relationship due to a particularly severe burn inflicted Amy Poehler during her stint as co-host in 2013 Golden Globe With Tina Fey.
Referring to the depiction of torture in the famous film Katherine Zero Dark ThirtyAmy said: “When it comes to torture, I trust the woman who was married to James Cameron for three years.” Oh.
So, if there's one thing about James Cameron, it's that he will speak his mind literally. anything — and in a recent interview with New York Times, Avatar: Fire and Ash Mastermind has finally (and quite late I might add!) addressed Amy's digs about his previous marriage to Katherine.
“Amy Poehler's line was an ignorant dig at an event that was supposed to be a celebration of movies and filmmakers, not a roast,” he said. “I'm pretty thick-skinned and happy to be the butt of a good-natured joke, but this has gone too far.”
“The fact that people thought it was funny shows that they think about me even though they have no idea who I am or how I work.”
You may or may not remember that Catherine and James also competed against each other at the 2010 Oscars – with the former Trauma locker winning Best Director and Best Film over the latter Avatar. In the interview, James also confirmed that he supported Katherine's success at the time: And he noted the media's established narrative regarding the couple's nominations.
“I was the first one to stand up and applaud,” he said. “Catherine and I thought this whole meta-narrative around us was pretty funny. I was a little worried that it would just undermine her credibility as a director. It started to turn into a conversation that wasn't about her film, and that bothered both of us.”
Well, that's all. You can read the entire interview Here.
