In a scathing message relayed to X, Winston congratulated the FSU women's soccer team on winning its fifth championship and also took a jab at the school's other soccer team.

“Thank you @FSUSoccer for consistently being our best soccer team over the years!” 2013 The Heisman Trophy winner wrote.

The football team recently celebrated its fifth NCAA title, hoisting the trophy in 2018, 2021, 2023 and now 2025.

Florida State is just 7-16 over the last two years and has failed to win a single road game in that time. In a statement released shortly after the school announced Norvell's return, Florida State President Richard McCullough acknowledged the need to improve the football program.

“Coach Norvell accepts our support in this process and agrees that success must be achieved. He continues to demonstrate unwavering faith in the future of this program, and so do we,” McCullough said. “This decision reflects a shared commitment to compete in the fast-paced world of college football while maintaining continuity within the program.”
