The Canadiens will be in Toronto tonight to take on the Maple Leafs. And Jakub Dobes will be at the goal for this occasion.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper is actually in good shape. Last Saturday's game against the Avalanche was painful, but he has won three of his last four starts (staying strong in front of the net).
And with no end in sight for Samuel Montembeault, playing goalkeeper suddenly becomes quite difficult. And starting tomorrow, things could get complicated.
At the moment we are waiting Monty to be in the net tomorrow (this is “probable”, according to Martin Saint-Louis). But Stu Cowan who answered fans' questions in an article for Montreal Gazettenoted that if Dobs performs well today, he expects to see him back in goal tomorrow.
And that would be a serious signal.

The fact that St. Louis hasn't confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt that Montembeault will be in goal tomorrow is a pretty strong signal in itself. After all, even before the start of the season, the coach made it clear: in a “two games in two nights” situation, expect the goalkeepers to share the task.
But if Dobs is back in the starting lineup tomorrow, it will all be worth it…especially since there will be a (short) break between the two games. It's not like both games were played at the Bell Center.
But the Habs are now in the thick of the playoff race and need to win games. If Dobes is the goalkeeper who gives them the best chance of doing that, then he is the goalkeeper they need.
And earlier in the season we saw what happened when a fired-up Dobs was benched on multiple occasions. Perhaps the coach learned a lesson from this too.

– It's not ideal. At the same time, these guys take care of the hardest minutes, allowing the rest to focus on the attack…

– No, Oliver Kapanen is not the second center. And Jake Evans wasn't there a year ago.
Do #GoHabsGo there is already a second-line center in Oliver Kapanen.?@MatthewOhayon: “He’s the type of player that he could be a 2nd line center, but if he’s your #3 center, you’re in very good shape.”#thesickpodcast @TonyMarinaro @BWildeMTL pic.twitter.com/1HcvGBDl9h

What if Oliver Kapanen becomes more than just a third center?
The numbers I showed you yesterday in @JiCLajoie don't lie: he is currently at the top of the rankings, both offensively and defensively, relative to his playing time. And his performance does justice… pic.twitter.com/iu8TpQ6fbF
