Jake Paul very emotional in his pre-fight chatter. “I want him to cut me, I want him to break my face,” he said of future opponent Anthony Joshua, “but guess what, he's going to have to kill me to stop me and I'm ready to die. Seriously, I'm ready to die in the ring to win this fight.” Can you technically win the fight if you die? Of course there is that ancient Greek wrestlerbut this story seems apocryphal at best. TMZ This was announced at a press conference held before their fight on December 19 in Miami.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis last Friday, but that match was canceled after Davis was accused of intimate partner violence. V A lawsuit. It's a big change for Paul, who was expecting to take on someone much smaller than himself in the exhibition bout. Now he's heading into a sanctioned heavyweight bout against someone bigger and more experienced than himself. Joshua is a former Olympic gold medalist and two-time heavyweight champion.
Joshua goes along with Paul's plan to break his face. “Honestly, I’m going to break his face,” he said, “I’m going to break his body, I’m going to stomp on him.”
By the way, you can watch this massacre live on Netflix. The couple will meet at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The live broadcast of the fight is designed for eight rounds of 3 minutes each. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn doesn't like Paul's chances. “They say be careful what you wish for, I think that's all I have to say,” Hearn said in a statement obtained by ESPN. “Two of the biggest names in sports will meet on December 19th. While I admire Jake's balls, he's going to have to experience that the hard way in Miami.”
