JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaguars player Logan Cook allegedly said he would kill Tennessee Titans running back Julius Chestnut According to Jaguars head coach Liam Cohen, the usual idle chatter occurs between players during the scrimmage in Sunday's game.
“I’ve probably heard that 100 times from players in games, but whatever,” Cohen said Monday afternoon.
Chestnut made the announcement in the locker room following the Jaguars' 25-3 win at Nissan Stadium. He said it happened during a scuffle after a punt in the fourth quarter and both players were immediately surrounded by teammates. Jaguar snapper Ross Matischik During an argument, he grabbed a Titans player and threw him to the ground.
When it was all over, Cook and Matiszczyk were punished for unnecessary roughness. Tennessee, defensive end Kayir Elam and safety Mike Brown were also fined for unnecessary roughness, and Brown was ejected.
“I don't even know what I did [to earn the penalty]Cook said after the game. – I tried to replace my boy Dewey. [safety Andrew Wingard]. It is what it is. We live with each other, ride with each other. That's it. So play football long enough, football things happen.”
Chestnut, who had blocked Cook on Titans returner Chimera Dike's 47-yard return on an earlier punt, said after the game that he was “just trying to play hard and he came up to me and said he was going to kill me.” So, I don't know what made him do this.
“…This surprised me. I've never seen anything like this before.”
