“And then something happened when I was in Venice,” he explained. “I was there with my sister and my mom and my dad, and during that standing ovation, I saw them standing behind me, and I saw my agent, who I've known for ten years, and I kind of looked around and realized that I was exactly where I was supposed to be my whole life. And every day since shooting this movie, in this industry, I felt some great peace that I was in the right place, I was supposed to be here.”
Guillermo also presented Jacob with flowers for his powerful performance. especially when it came to the actor's intense transformation process.
“It took about 10 hours every day,” Guillermo exclusively told E! News from October 6: “And about 42 items of makeup, prosthetics. And then he will have to work.”
Ultimately, it was Jacob's spectacular execution that brought the iconic monster to life.
“I told him, 'Look, it's like when a priest gets dressed: the robe and the ceremonial guard have several layers. You have to think, these are your Ceremonial Guards. You call upon the Thing,” Guillermo added. “And the result is heartbreaking and beautiful. This is truly a naked performance – emotionally so close to innocence that it breaks your heart.”
