The announcement follows several days of increased activity by Israeli security forces in the West Bank, especially in the northern part.
Following the IDF and Shin Bet announcement, Palestinian Authority-run newspaper Wafa reported that Israeli forces were operating in Tubas, Aqaba and Tammun. The publication claims that Israeli forces raided several houses, damaging and looting their property, and also brought in heavy military reinforcements.
According to Wafa, bulldozers blocked main and secondary roads with mounds of earth, and military procedures were tightened at the Tayasir and Hamra checkpoints, restricting the movement of citizens and creating traffic jams.
