Sink released a free Halloween-themed update for ISLANDS: New Shoresturning the peaceful minimalist city planner into something more creepy. The update, now available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, introduces a spooky new Halloween biome – a dark and misty map that hides a mysterious secret.

The update brings a ton of new features to match the spooky seasons. A new gift called “Replacement” has been added, as well as seasonal decorations such as pumpkins, tombstones, and glowing candles. Players can also discover eerie trees, some of which are naked and others decorated with candles. All this gives the islands a Halloween atmosphere.

In addition to the new decoration, players will be able to unlock the Ghost Camera Filter in the Clear Journey challenge. The Ghost Whisperer challenge also added a new building façade to the Aviary. It's part of four new spooky themed challenges, each designed to reward exploration and creativity in a new haunted environment. Halloween Biome also features an original soundtrack that perfectly matches its dark tone.

Other additions include new access options for gamepad users, allowing for more seamless control customization. A new keyboard shortcut allows players to temporarily disable snapping for more precise building placement. The update also introduces six new achievements and trophies, giving players more goals to pursue as they explore this exciting new version of their island world.
