Instagram is introducing a new tool called Your Algorithm that gives you direct control over the videos populating your Reels tab. Your interests change over time. Now your feed can change with you in real time.
Instagram says this new feature uses artificial intelligence to help you see the themes that form your Reels and customize them with a few taps. It has already begun distribution in the US and will soon be available worldwide in English.

Why Instagram Created Your Reels Algorithm
Instagram wants your feed to reflect what you care about right now. Your algorithm gives you a clear idea of the topics Instagram thinks you like, then allows you to adjust them as you watch your videos.
First, click on the reels icon. It looks like a play button inside a rounded rectangle at the bottom of the screen.

How to See and Control Your Reels Algorithm
When you watch the video, look for small icon in the upper right corner. Looks like two lines with hearts.
Tap this icon to open Your Algorithm. From here you can manage your feed using three controls.
1) See what interests you
At the top of the screen, you'll see a list of topics that Instagram thinks match your interests. This gives you an idea of what is shaping your reels.
2) Set your preferences
You can enter the topics you want to see more or less of. Your Reels feed updates are based on these changes. You can also choose what you want to see less of by clicking “Add” and then entering the topic you want Instagram to reduce in your feed.

3) Share your algorithm
If you want to show your friends what topics are shaping your feed, tap “Share to Story” option on the “Your Algorithm” screen. Instagram will open a preview of the story. Then click “Your Story” to publish it, or “Close Friends” if you want it to be seen by a smaller group of people.
Instagram says this is just the beginning. The company plans to bring the same level of control to the Explore tab and other parts of the app soon.
